They just finished witnessing one of the greatest miracles ever! The feeding the five thousand. Jesus told them to get into the boat and cross the Sea of Galilee. Again, they are in a storm that could end their discipleship program with Jesus. A lack of faith will always give birth to doubt and SIN! But when a Christian displays unbelief That is no small sin. What did the Hebrew writer pen? Take the resume of godly a man named George Mueller, a missionary who lived by one thing He and his best friend, Henry Craik, founded the Scriptural Knowledge Institution in Bristol, England, with one of their prime objectives being to establish Orphan Homes for the many homeless children in Great Britain.
Mueller and Craik had no money, nor did they intend to ask anyone for it: they believed that God would provide everything they needed - without patronage, without requests for contributions and without debts. All they had to do was pray, and God would provide. For 64 years, that was how George Mueller operated. In that course of time, he built The Orphanage campus at Ashley Down, where he cared for and educated over 18, children; educated over , more in other schools at the Orphanage's expense; distributed hundreds of thousands of Bibles and tens of millions of religious tracts; supported about missionaries; travelled over , miles as a missionary himself; and shared the Gospel with over 3 million people around the world.
And in all that time, he never asked for one penny from anyone, his children never missed a meal, and he never had a debt. Once, when there was no food to give the children and it was almost lunch time, one of Mueller's assistants came to him, worried.
Mueller said, "It's not twelve o'clock yet. Often, Mueller had no idea where their next meal was coming from: he just trusted God's promises. Another time, when Mueller was onboard a ship that was lost in fog, he comforted the anxious captain by saying, "My eye is not on the density of the fog, but on the living God, who controls every circumstance of my life. George Mueller was totally dependent on God. That was how he wanted it. He wanted people to see that God was faithful and could be trusted.
He once said, "I have joyfully dedicated my whole life to the object of exemplifying how much may be accomplished by prayer and faith. He wrote "There was a day when I died, utterly died: died to George Mueller, his opinions, preferences, tastes and will; died to the world, its approval; died to the approval or blame even of my brethren and friends. And since then, I have studied only to show myself 'approved unto God. God is so awesome He faithful not only in the big things but also in the little things of life!
He greatly concerned and involved in your life whether you believe it or not. I remember a time when our pastor back in Ontario told my wife and me the story while he was at Dallas Theological Seminary as we were preparing to leave for ministry.
There was time when he and his wife had nothing to eat! They lived in a small one bedroom apartment. The only thing they had was a couple pieces of bread and a bottle of ketchup left in the cupboards! But they accepted their present circumstance Allen, was about to pray and give thanks when all of a sudden there was a knock at the door!
His next door neighbour had this massive plate of spaghetti asked if they could use this because they were invited out for dinner by visiting friends. They gladly accepted the gift; sat down and gave thanks to God for His faithfulness by providing for a need [not a want].
He is always faithful and worthy to trusted at all times. Whether your life is tough right now. Whether you lost a loved one naturally or tragically. Whether you are battling cancer or another life threatening illness. Whether you finances do not equal out according to you. Whether your marriage is on the rocks and it seems like divorce is around the corner. Whether your child has gone astray and living with the pigs. Whether your husband or wife have lost their fire for Christ.
Whether your life seems to be a living train wreck that seems impossible to recover. Whether you feel alone and god seems distant God is faithful. Look at some the wonderful examples we find in the Scriptures! Job the oldest letter in the bible David from what we read in this Psalm. Elijah a man of faithful prayer.
The Centurion and his ill servant Do you believe in the Son of God? It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me. And the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.
You and I when He grabbed a hold of our lives through His wonderful grace found in His salvation. Faithfulness will always bring about contentment and joy even in the midst of struggle Great is the Lord He is so faithful He cares for you! Remember what Jesus said to His disciples? Let this not be true with us here today or the next. Jesus said to His disciples in the Gospel of Matthew something profound and a truth that we can hold on to even in a time like this. So let me ask you the hard question!
The Christian faith is an active life that has been transformed by the Gospel which leads to a committed life unto Jesus Christ by Obedience. The only way to find victory to sin of doubt and lack of faith, is to seek the Lord and His righteousness, not the worlds or from looking within. This only comes when God allows trials to come into our lives. It only comes through walking by faith. It only comes by seeking His Word for answers, not the world. It only comes when we put our trust in His resume.
The heavens may declare the glory of God but, because of our sinfulness, we need more. The sun, moon, and stars may point to God's glory, majesty, and power, but this glory does not have a moral element. Nature does not tell us whether our Creator is good. We need the Bible if we are to learn that God is good, merciful, and just. God is not sufficiently revealed to us until we have His Word.
To observe God from nature alone, as many scientists do, is to read only part of His resume. The book concludes by saying, "For the scientist who has lived by faith in the power of reason, the story ends like a bad dream. He has scaled the mountains of ignorance; he is about to conquer the highest peak; as he pulls himself over the rock, he is greeted by a band of theologians who have been sitting there for centuries.
What we learn from God's written Word is that the righteous character of the Scriptures is the reflection of a righteous God. Commenting on the character of Scripture, David writes, " The law of the Lord is perfect, restoring the soul; the testimony of the Lord is sure, making wise the simple. The precepts of the Lord are right, rejoicing the heart; the commandment of the Lord is pure, enlightening the eyes. These 2 verses alone contain enough theology for an entire sermon, but allow we to briefly unpack them for you.
In verses 7 and 8 we learn, in a parallel structure, about the characteristics of God's Word , and the benefits of keeping God's Word. The first characteristic is that " The law of the Lord is perfect ". The Hebrew word translated " perfect " also means " complete ". That is to say that the Bible is an all-sufficient revelation.
Everything we need is contained in the Bible. The second characteristic is that " the testimony of the Lord is sure ". The meaning of the word " sure " in this case is " trustworthy ". What you read in God's Word is trustworthy. It will never lead you astray. The third characteristic is that " The precepts of the Lord are right ". By the word, " right ", David does not mean correct as opposed to wrong--that idea is seen in the word " sure ". When David confesses that " The precepts of the Lord are right " he means that they are morally righteous.
And the final characteristic of God's Word is that it is " pure ". The idea here is longevity and durability. Corrupt things decay, but that which is pure endures forever. This is why Jesus could say, " Heaven and earth will pass away, but My words shall never pass away " Mt. Now think about those characteristics for a minute. What parts of God's creation could be described as " perfect ", " trustworthy ", " righteous ", and " pure "?
Not too many, if any at all. It is important that we realize that creation is only part of God's resume. God's creation is the resume for His power and glory, but God's Word is the resume for His holiness and His mercy. God's creation is to be enjoyed, yes, but have a look at verse 10, " the ordinances of God are more desirable than gold, yes, than much fine gold; sweeter also than honey and the drippings of the honeycomb. Do you see what David has done is this Psalm? David has spent 6 verses telling us how great creation is, but now he wants us to know there is something more desirable, something sweeter, and that is the Word of God.
What are the implications of this? If you are tempted to read the stock page, or the sports page, before you read the Bible in the morning, remind yourself that this is not shrewd behavior. It's like the child who chooses the penny over the dime because it's bigger. There is a difference however: the benefits of the Word of God over the benefits of gold are far greater than 10 to one.
The value of the Word of God, David tells us, is that it " restores the soul " v. David goes on to tell us in verse 11 that, " by God's Word your servant is warned ". More simply put-- God's Word keeps us from sin. Or, as John Bunyan once put it, "This Book will keep you from sin, and sin will keep you from this Book". David also tells us in verse 11 that " in keeping the ordinances of God there is great reward ".
Augustine once said that "sin is its own punishment". Here, I think David is telling us that the reverse is true, "obedience to God's Word is its own reward".
He will speak against God and hate Israel. The bible calls him the Antichrist. So the revealing of the Antichrist on earth is the sign of the Rapture. My concern is that after Satan is thrown out of heaven and then after I come back to earth to get my followers; at that time I will need to consider a new line of work. I was thinking of something perhaps in the vengeance field. And tragically, billions of humans still stubbornly ignore or reject His credentials… to their complete and utter eternal torment.

When leaders and members fulfill their purposes together, then the Body of Christ builds itself up in two specific, cohesive ways: doctrinal unity and spiritual maturity Ephesians When a congregation knows the truth not just academically, but personally, then their love abounds in knowledge and depth of insight Philippians We often miss the vital real-life, how-to application of every-member disciple-making that Paul embeds in this text.
How does the church come to unity and maturity? Exactly what are pastors equipping people to do? Specifically how do members do the work of the ministry? Every word in this passage funnels toward this remarkable phrase:. Gospel-Centered Ministry. It describes the person who ministers from a heart of integrity and Christ-like, grace-oriented love. It pictures the person whose relational style is transparent and trustworthy.
The tense and context indicates that the body of Christ should continually, actively, and collectively be embodying truth in love as it walks together in intimate, vulnerable connection. In one word, Paul combines content, character, and competence shared in community. While it means more than sheer factual content, it does not mean less than the gospel fully applied.
